My Stitches West report:
I went to Sts W on Saturday and my mom tagged along. She had heard about it on NPR and was intrigued. One of the things she wanted to see was Habu paper yarn. We found it at the end of the day and she wasn't that impressed.
There was still a big line to get into the marketplace at 1:30 pm but once in, it wasn't as bad as it was last year when I went earlier on Saturday. The biggest booths with the most bargains were WAY too mobbed for me to even consider checking them out, but I found several interesting things that I just couldn't say no to.
I visited the Brooks Farm booth and fell in love with a skein of Duet in these beautiful browns and teals. I also fell in love with another yarn of theirs which I'm going to look for on their website. I've decided to do a modified Clapotis with this Duet. The pattern calls for three skeins of Lion and Lamb (110 yds ea.), so I'm going to make a 75% Clapotis with my 500 yds. :) The gauge will also be a little smaller because this is a finer yarn... but I think it will be lovely. I REALLY wanted to start it today, but had trouble winding this morning. I'll take some pictures tonight and post them tomorrow.
Another thing I bought was some funky roving-ish stuff. I just don't know what it's called... It's awfully cool in blues and burgundy colors. I have no idea what to do with it but was thinking about my skein of black-on-black Karabella yarn and maybe weaving the bulky stuff through it. I'm just not sure in what pattern yet. So that's TBD.
The last thing I bought was a rhinestone pin that says "Yarn Goddess." It's really cute. There were some others... one of them said "Born to Knit." But I liked this one the best.
Oh yeah I also bought the Angelina Vintage Jacket pattern from White Lies Designs (which I had been eyeing last year). I am thinking about buying some black DK yarn from one of the Knit Picks new lines and making it for next year.
I'm continuing to work on the knitted Polar Bear and the wrap sweater for my co-worker. Once I finish both of them, I'll decide which one is for her. :)
