I must have cast on and knit the first section of the Clapotis three times this weekend. It's not a difficult pattern, but I really just wanted to knit and not worry about going row-by-row. It's not a pattern you can really count rows on because there are whole sections of rows that are exactly the same. So I kept screwing up in the increasing section. I'm going to start over and keep track of my rows. I just can't watch tv for a while.
on the brighter side, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Duet! (see below for a picture) the colors are gorgeous! and the variegation (is that a word?) is so subtle that even with a small piece, there were several sections of color.
My dearest friend, Emil, visited SF this weekend. I got to spend most of Saturday with him and he surprised me by going to Imagiknit with me! Of course I offered to make him a scarf as it is sooo freakin' cold in Philadelphia. So we picked out some Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk (because of Sarah's recommendation oh so long ago) in black and a springy soft lime green. I got two skeins of black and one of green. I'm starting to wonder if I need another skein of black. I want it to be a thick scarf and he's tall. hm. This was also my second trip back to Imagiknit when they were out of the hairpin lace tool that I want to buy. They took my info and are going to call me when it comes in. I put a link to some examples of hairpin lace tools, but neither of them are the one I saw at Imagiknit.
Berrocco's Book 231 has a bunch of patterns using hairpin lace. it's funny that the pattern book came out just after I started getting interested in hairpin lace.
